NiMet predicts three-day dust haze, cloudiness from Saturday

According to NiMet, slight dust haze is anticipated over the northern region throughout the forecast period on Monday.

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted hazy and cloudy weather conditions from Saturday to Monday across the nation.

NiMet`s weather outlook released in Abuja on Friday envisaged thick to moderate dust haze on Saturday with horizontal visibility ranging from 1km to 3km.

Localised visibility of less than 1,000m is expected over the northern and North-Central cities throughout the forecast period.

A hazy atmosphere with few patches of cloud should prevail over the inland states of the South,  with isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of Ekiti and Ondo states in the morning hours.

The agency also anticipated isolated thunderstorms over Cross River, Delta, Rivers, Ogun, Yenegoa, Edo, Osun, Ondo and Abia states during the afternoon and evening hours.

“For Sunday, moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility range of 1km to 3km and localised visibility of less than 1,000m is anticipated over the North and the North-Central regions throughout the forecast period.

“Cloudy atmosphere with spells of sunshine is anticipated over the inland states and the coastal region of the South.

“Prospects of isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Delta, Edo, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Oyo, Osun and Ondo states during the afternoon and evening hours,“ the agency said.

According to NiMet, slight dust haze is anticipated over the northern region throughout the forecast period on Monday.

Moderate dust haze with a visibility range of 2km to 5km is predicted over the North-Central region throughout the forecast period.

“Patches of clouds are expected over the inland areas of the South and the Coast, with isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of Lagos and Ogun states in the morning hours.

“Isolated thunderstorms are anticipated over parts of Cross River, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Edo and Delta states during the afternoon and evening hours,” it said.
