“Let us pray for our leaders and stop raining curses on them. They are human beings, and nobody is perfect,” the cleric said.

Pastor Muyiwa Joseph of Christ Testament Church, Ilorin, has advised Nigerians to pray for the country’s leadership rather than just speak ill of them.

Mr Joseph told journalists on Saturday in Ilorin that leaders needed prayers and not curses.

“Let us pray for our leaders and stop raining curses on them. They are human beings, and nobody is perfect,” the cleric said.

He said most people speak negatively about the country’s leadership rather than pray for God’s guidance and intervention.

“Seek God’s intervention for them to deliver perfectly, for God to touch their hearts to perform excellently,” he said.

The clergyman called on the public to emulate Americans who pray for their leadership.

Mr Joseph also advised religious leaders to stop inciting the public against the government and to live by example.

“Religious leaders must be polite and intercede on behalf of the masses for a new Nigeria,” he said.
