Northwest varsity secures NUC accreditation for five programmes

Amina Salihi-Bayero, vice-chancellor of Northwest University Kano, says the National Universities Commission has granted the institution full accreditation to five programmes.
Mr Salihi-Bayero said the approval came through a letter dated April 7, signed by NUC’s director of accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, according to a statement on Monday by the school. The letter was issued on behalf of the executive secretary of the commission.
According to the vice-chancellor, the accredited programmes secured validity for five years after the commission’s assessment.
The programmes include M.Sc Accounting in the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and B.Sc Physiology in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences. Others are B.Sc Information and Communication Technology, MBBS in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, and B.Sc Physics in the Faculty of Science.
“The accreditation status reflects the university’s commitment to high academic standards, quality teaching, research excellence, and adequate resources for programme delivery,” she said.
Ms Salihi-Bayero described the achievement as a major milestone for the university and credited management, staff, students, council members, and stakeholders for their support.
She assured the university community and the public of continued commitment to quality assurance and improvements aligned with NUC standards and global best practices.
