An Abuja-based lawyer, Adamson Adeboro on Sunday, said recycling old politicians was not good for Nigeria’s politics.

In an interview in Abuja, he decried that the “Not Too Young To Run” bill signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2018 was ineffective.

“On a sober reflection, the ‘Not Too Young to Run’ bill has no effect on Nigerians,” he said.

He said the youths are taking over in different countries of the world and expressed concern that it was not the same in Nigeria.

“The day I see a 30 to 50 years youth contesting the president of this country, my joy will know no bounds,” he said.

Mr Adeboro added that the inability of the youths to be in the helms of affairs in the country had made the country obtain the same results every time.

Nonetheless, he commended the participation of youths in political activities towards the 2023 elections.

“The campaigns have started quite alright, but the campaigns do not determine the votes; the number of people you see during campaigns does not determine the votes,” he said.

Mr Adeboro urged Nigeria, as a country at 62 years, to look back on past development, saying that at every stage in life, one should have commensurable development.

He lauded Nigeria at 62, saying that despite all the hurdles and challenges, the country still had reason to celebrate.
