The Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) says the sales of tickets for intending travelers will resume at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

This follows the expiration of the federal government’s free train ride on January 4.

Fidet Okhiria, the managing director of NRC said this when he spoke with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.

Mr Okhiria advised intending passengers to ensure that they purchase their usual tickets electronically or physically at the various stations of the corporation to avoid embarrassment.

The federal government had declared free train rides for Nigerians from December 24 to January 4 to facilitate easy movement for the yuletide.

However, travelers had accused the Abuja railway operators of defying the federal government’s directive on the free train rides.

They alleged that operators at the Idu Train Terminal reportedly sold tickets to passengers aboard the Abuja-Kaduna train at the rate of N12,000 on Christmas day and N8,000 a day before.
