The Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has decorated at least 505 promoted officers.

Seven hundred twenty-five officers participated in the examination, while 80 per cent were promoted.

In a speech at the event at the command’s headquarters in Akure on Friday, the state commandant of the corps, Olatundun Olayinka, urged the promoted officers to justify their new positions with renewed loyalty and discipline.

He said the number of promoted officers is unprecedented because the command typically celebrates 85 promotions.

“God has heard our prayers. We are decorating 505,” he said.

Mr Olayinka urged the officers to be more diligent in their duties, stating, “I urge you to see this promotion as a call to higher service.”

“God gives promotion. Those not promoted should keep calm because we will celebrate you next year. Ensure that there is synergy among you,” Mr Olayinka said.

Earlier, the state comptroller of the Nigeria Correctional Services, Jude Agboje, congratulated the promoted officers and said Nigeria was enjoying President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

Mr Agboje urged those who took the exams but were not promoted to put in more effort and not be discouraged.

Also, the comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kayode Afolabi, said the promotion was from God and urged the officers to be disciplined.

Responding, one of the promoted officers, the deputy commandant of corps, Ondo State Command, Oluyemi Benjamin, assured them that the promoted officers would do their best.
