The Osun Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged its officers to respect human rights and be disciplined in discharging their duties.

This is contained in a statement by the command’s public relations officer, Kehinde Adeleke, on Friday in Osogbo.

Mr Adaralewa Akintayo, the NSCDC commandant, advised his maiden meeting with senior officers, area commanders and divisional officers across the command.

Mr Akintayo said he would not tolerate any act of indiscipline.

He warned that officers who brought the image of the corps to disrepute would be dealt with in accordance with extant rules.

Mr Akintayo added that unethical behaviour would never be condoned under any guise and the rule of law and respect for human rights should be strictly adhered to.

‘’One thing I cannot stand is indiscipline to superiors and general public,” he said.

He also emphasised the need for the officers to key into the vision of the commandant-general, Ahmed Audi’s agenda of repositioning the corps to actualise its mandates.

He urged the officers not to use their uniforms or riffles to intimidate members of the public.

”Even in the face of the highest provocation, you must maintain decorum, never trample on the fundamental human rights of Nigerians,” he said.

Me Akintayo also charged the officers on firm control of their respective jurisdictions and to be dutiful and intensify their supervisory roles.

He assured them that he would always provide good leadership to help them succeed in discharging their duties.

Me Akintayo appealed to public members to assist security agencies with timely information to help nip crimes in the bud.
