Ogun: Court jails two men for punching woman
Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun on Thursday sentenced two men, Lekan Toba and Alayemi Bamidele, to three months’ imprisonment each for punching a woman and causing breach of peace.
Messrs Toba and Bamidele, aged 21 and 33 respectively, had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of peace brought against them by the police.
The magistrate, A. O. Adeyemi, convicted and sentenced the duo without an option of fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the convicts, and others at large, committed the offences on May 25 at 9:00 a.m. behind Garage, Sango-Ota.
Ms Adaraloye stated that the convicts conspired and conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by intimidating and assaulting the complainant, Atinuke Agbajeola.
He said the offences contravened sections 351, 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
