Ogun man arraigned for assault

A 25-year-old man, Tajudeen Abiona, on Monday stood before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for assault.
The defendant was charged before the magistrate, O.O. Fadairo. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence sometime in 2025, at Ago Adura in Ota.
He alleged that following a misunderstanding, the defendant assaulted a complainant, one Taiwo Balogun, and hit her with his fist.
Mr Adaraloye alleged that in the process, the defendant also damaged a gold necklace and an Android phone belonging to the complainant, both valued at N215,000.
The magistrate granted the defendant bail of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Ms Fadairo held that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and must be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the state government.
The court adjourned the case until May 28 for a hearing.
