Brigadier-General MT Aminu, the commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, says residents of the state now feel more secure following the command’s peace and security drives, especially during the election.

Mr Aminu spoke on Sunday during the 2022 edition of the West African Social Activities (WASA) at the parade ground in Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta.

WASA is an annual social event by the Nigerian Army to promote bonding through social activities among personnel and families while displaying rich cultural heritage.

He said the brigade and other security forces had created a peaceful atmosphere in the state, especially during and after the general elections.

Mr Aminu noted that the residents’ confidence had increased, saying they felt more secure while doing their daily activities.

“These successful and continued efforts by the brigade have undoubtedly increased the people’s confidence.

“I can say people feel secure while they go about their daily activities,” the commander said.

He acknowledged that the civil-military relationship and the synergy among security agencies had enabled a secure atmosphere in the state.

The Garrison Commander, Col. Legborsi Needum, described WASA as a historical, cultural, social and regimental event which promoted rich cultural values and appraisal of the Brigade’s last year’s activities ahead of the new year.

He appreciated the conduct of the people of Ogun State during the recently concluded general elections, urging them to be law-abiding citizens as the security of the state remained a collective responsibility.
