The Ondo State House of Assembly has called for synergy among security agencies in combating security threats in the state.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, made the call on Monday in Akure at a meeting with security heads in Ondo East Local Government Area of the state.

The meeting was sequel to a recent arson that occurred in the local government area.

Reacting to the incident, the speaker said that the time has come for all hands to be on deck to forestall future occurrences.

He tasked the security agents with working as a team to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the unfortunate incident.

Mr Oladiji charged security agencies with beefing up security across the state to forestall the breakdown of law and order.

According to him, meaningful development can only take place in an atmosphere of peace. He added that anybody who disrupts the peace of the state must face the full wrath of the law.

The speaker described the people as hardworking and business-oriented, calling for peaceful coexistence to bring about more developments.

“The council area is known for peace. Our people go about their normal daily businesses without rancour, and that is why they must continue to live together as a family,” he said.

The speaker appreciated  Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the existing peace in the state, assuring that no stone would be left unturned to sustain it.

Responding on behalf of the security agencies, Durojaye Aye, a superintendent of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, said the meeting was timely.

He said the visit symbolised support from the legislative arm in collectively tackling insecurity in the local government area and the state in general

Mr Aye thanked the speaker and assured the House of the security agencies’ readiness to work in unison in tackling insecurity in the state.
