The Ikeja Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence Court has found the medical director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, Olufemi Olaleye, guilty of raping his wife’s niece.

The court handed the medical doctor a life sentence.

Convicting the doctor on a two-count charge of child defilement and sexual assault by penetration of a 15-year-old minor, Justice Rahman Oshodi, in his judgment on Tuesday, ruled that the victim’s testimony and that of the medical professional who examined her were credible.

The judge added that Mr Olaleye’s confessional statement and exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife were enough evidence against him.

Basing his judgment on the evidence from the statement and the undertaking he signed at the Anthony Police Station with his lawyer Olalekan Buruji and his NBA seal, Mr Oshodi concluded that the victim was raped and made to perform fellatio.

The judge added that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and that all the evidence before the court corroborated that of the victim.

He, therefore, ruled that the defendant should serve life imprisonment for count one and the same for count two, which should run concurrently.
