Three organisations are partnering to showcase made-in-Nigeria products in the U.S.

They are the Committee of Youth on Mobilisation and Sensitisation (CYMS), the Organisation of Youth in International, Trade and Commerce (OY-ITC) and BUY-Naija Projects.

CYMS’s director-general, Obinna Nwaka, said in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja that the move was to assist in the implementation of the Nigeria-U.S. Trade and Commerce summit scheduled for February 2022.

Mr Nwaka stated that the partnership would also encourage diversification of Nigeria’s economy from oil and white-collar jobs to boost revenue and ensure self-reliance by teeming youths.

The OY-ITC and BUY-Naija Projects of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment focus on helping Nigerian youths through empowerment programmes.

Mr Nwaka expressed optimism that the partnership would give young entrepreneurs into producing made-in-Nigeria products and other services a golden opportunity in their lifetimes.

He added that CYMS would encourage entrepreneurs after the exhibition to become successful in their areas of specialisation.

Mr Nwaka recalled that the organisation had collaborated with the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and other international bodies in the past, where entrepreneurs were mobilised to participate in capacity building.

He noted that young people were desirous of contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth through their skills.

“Oftentimes, lack of an environment conducive to business, lack of sense of belonging and inability or impatience to acquire necessary documentation from regulatory bodies have been their major challenge,’’ Mr Nwaka explained.
