Oscars 2026: Sinners lead with 16 nominations

The Oscars revealed their 2026 nominations on Wednesday with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners leading with 16 nominations.
The ceremony is set to be held on March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, California, with Conan O’Brien hosting.
The film earned major nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, and Best Supporting Actor for Delroy Lindo.
It also picked up nods in technical categories such as cinematography, production design and sound, showing the Academy’s broad recognition of its craft.
Wunmi Mosaku also secured a Best Supporting Actress nomination for her role in the film, making Sinners one of the most recognised films in both acting and technical categories.
The Oscars, formally known as the Academy Awards, are the film industry’s highest honours, recognising the best in categories such as acting, directing, writing, and technical work.
The awards are presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and are widely regarded as the most prestigious honours in Hollywood.
The 2026 Oscars also introduced a new category, ‘Best Casting’, recognising the role of casting directors in shaping a film’s success.
Sinners received a nomination in this category as well.
