The Osun State House of Assembly has passed a bill seeking the establishment of a public complaints and anti-corruption commission for the state.

The bill, a private member bill titled “Osun State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission Establishment Bill 2023,” was passed after its third reading during plenary session on Tuesday in Osogbo.

The bill was sponsored by Lawrence Adeoti, lawmaker representing Ife South State Constituency.

He said that when the bill is signed into law, it would complement efforts of the state Ministry of Justice and the Attorney-General in ensuring the eradication of corruption in the state.

“It will also help in the investigation of allegations of any corrupt practices against any person and refer to the Attorney-General any allegation of improper or non-performance of any government subjects for necessary actions,” he said

Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Adewale Egbedun, stated after the passage of the bill that it would be forwarded to the governor for his assent to become law.

Thereafter, the Osun State Geographic Information Service Bill 2024 was passed for a second reading.

The assembly was equally dissolved into a committee of the whole to deliberate further on the Osun State Senior Secondary Education Board Establishment Bill 2024.
