The Osun State chapter of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) has declared an indefinite strike with immediate effect.

This was after police officers stationed at the entrance of the state High Court at Oke-Fia, Oshogbo, on Wednesday, fired tear gas to disperse protesting workers, making those at the scene run in different directions.

The state chief judge, Adepele Ojo, was said to have made her way into the premises to resume back to her office.

When the protesters who left the gate open realised she had entered the premises, they moved towards where her vehicle was parked, prompting the action of the police operatives.

The protesting workers had grounded activities in the state High Court since Monday over alleged abuse of office and high-handedness by the chief judge.

Speaking to journalists after the incident, Osun JUSUN chairman, Gbenga Eludire, said, “Following the action of the police and attitude of the Chief Judge, I, Comrade Gbenga Eludire, hereby ordered that workers in the sector should withdraw their service till further notice.”
