The police in Osun on Thursday arraigned two suspected transformer vandals.

Tiamiyu Kazeem, 35, and Adebayo Adenuga, 42, appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged conspiracy and attempt to vandalise an electricity transformer and allied equipment.

The prosecutor, ASP Tajudeen Mustapha, alleged that the defendants committed the offences on September 9  in Ayetoro Village, Igbajo in Osun.

Mr Mustapha said that the defendants conspired with others at large and attempted to vandalise a community electricity transformer and other equipment.

The prosecutor said that the defendants were, however, apprehended.

He said that the offences contravened the Criminal Code of Osun, 2004.

The Magistrate, O.A. Daramola, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 and one surety each in the like sum.

Mr Daramola said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and have evidence of tax payment to the Osun Government.

He adjourned the case until November 1 for hearing.
