Pakistan’s anti-narcotics agency seizes over 97kg drugs

The Anti-Narcotics Force of Pakistan conducted nine operations across the country, seizing more than 97 kilogrammes of drugs, a spokesman for the ANF said.

The spokesperson said that the force also arrested six drug peddlers during the operations conducted in different areas of the country.

During an operation at the Jinnah International Airport in the southern port city of Karachi, the ANF officials recovered 2.2 kg of Ice and 420 grams of heroin from a passenger bound for Bahrain.

In a separate operation at the international airport of the capital Islamabad, 720 intoxicated tablets were seized from a passenger en route to Saudi Arabia.

Another significant seizure took place at a courier office in the eastern garrison city of Rawalpindi, where 546 grams of weed was found in a parcel sent from Thailand.

ANF officials also recovered 70 kg of heroin during an operation near the Bolan Road in the southwest provincial capital of Quetta.

They confiscated an additional 14 kg of hashish in Qila Abdullah district of southwest Balochistan province.

The force also arrested an individual and recovered 4 kg of hashish from his possession in the Qasimabad area of Hyderabad in southern Sindh province.

This followed by the arrest of two suspects in Mianwali along with 3.6 kg of hashish.

Further operations led to the recovery of two kg of intoxicated tablets in the northwest Khyber district and 1 kg of hashish from an individual detained in Rawalpindi city.

The spokesman confirmed that cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act had been registered against the arrested individuals, and further investigations were currently underway.
