Guinness World Records (GWR) has politely urged participants to properly confirm with the Guinness team before attempting to break any world record.

Guinness World Records made this known through its Twitter handle on Tuesday.

“Polite reminder that you should probably have your world record title confirmed by our team before attempting it”, Guinness tweeted.

Many believe that the public service announcement may be particularly directed at Nigerians following the recent attempts by individuals to break various records.

Nigerian Chef Hilda Baci recently broke the record of the longest cooking hours with over 93 hours and 11 minutes.

Another Nigerian chef, Adeparusi Damilola, undertook a 120-hour cook-a-thon in Oye-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

But Damilola, popularly known as “Chef Dammy,” reportedly failed to notify GWR before embarking on the cooking marathon.
