The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, commiserated with Governor Seyi Makinde and the people of Oyo over the deadly explosion in the Bodija area of Ibadan.

The party described the incident as tragic in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba.

The party said it was saddened by the explosion, which claimed the lives of citizens, critically injuring others and left many displaced.

It said the incident, which destroyed homes and property in the area, had brought agony and pain to the people of Oyo at this critical time.

It commended the Oyo government for the exceptional show of leadership and swift response and intervention by visiting the scene of the blast.

It also lauded the immediate provision of all necessary emergency aid and support to the victims and their families, including prompt evacuation of victims, payment of medical bills, and temporary accommodation to the displaced.

“Such prompt intervention by Governor Makinde helped in saving more lives and bringing succour to the victims and their families,” said the party.

PDP called for an investigation into the remote and immediate causes of the blast to bring the culprits to justice and prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
