The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed grief over the death of its former national chairman Vincent Ogbulafor.

Mr Ogbulafor was one of PDP’s founding members, a former national secretary of PDP,  and a former minister of state, special duties.

The party, in a statement by its national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, on Sunday,  described Mr Ogbulafor as an exceptionally patriotic leader.

“Ogbulafor was a detribalised Nigerian and quintessential democrat who dedicated his skills, resources and energies in selfless service toward the unity, stability, democratic advancement and economic development of our nation

“As the national secretary of the PDP, Ogbulafor played key roles alongside other leaders of our party in laying a solid foundation for effective party management and administration,” the statement partly read.

Mr Ologunagba said Mr Ogbulafor displayed a unique leadership capacity in leading the party to deliver the dividends of democracy to Nigerians effectively.

“The PDP mourns this great national tragedy, especially coming at this point in our national life when our party and indeed the nation need his wealth of experience the most.”

Mr Ologunagba commiserated with the Ogbulafor family, the government and people of Abia, the PDP in Abia, as well as the people of Olokoro, Umuahia South of Abia.

He prayed to God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
