The Anambra chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has constituted a seven-man disciplinary committee to tackle indiscipline and foster reconciliation, thereby strengthening the party in the state.

The committee, which was inaugurated in Awka on Friday, has Odili Ojukwu as chairman and Obinna Ogugua as secretary.

The members are Uju Edochie, deputy chairman; Chris Maduagwu; Nnamdi Nwangwu; Casmir Ilechukwu; and Okechukwu Ekemezie.

Chidi Chidebe, chairman of the PDP in Anambra, while inaugurating the committee, charged them with the responsibility of upholding discipline and ensuring adherence to the party’s constitution, rules, and regulations.

Mr Chidebe said the committee is also to investigate allegations of misconduct, anti-party activities, or actions capable of bringing the party into disrepute, as well as recommend appropriate measures or sanctions in accordance with the party’s constitution.

He said that based on its findings, the committee could make recommendations, including sanctions such as reprimand, suspension, or expulsion, to the SWC for approval.

The party chairman charged members to discharge their duties with utmost integrity, impartiality, confidentiality, and dedication to the ideals of PDP.

He stated that the duration of their appointment would be determined by the State Executive Committee (SEC).

“The SEC of the PDP in Anambra, in compliance with Chapter 10, Article 57 (1)(2) of the constitution of our great party, has approved the constitution of the Anambra PDP disciplinary committee.

“We congratulate the committee and look forward to your contributions toward strengthening discipline, unity, and internal democracy in the PDP in Anambra,” he said.
