Peaceful Eid prayers held across Kano amid tight security

Eid al-Adha prayers were held peacefully across Kano’s four emirates on Wednesday, with worshippers turning out in large numbers to mark Eid-el-Kabir.
The prayers in Kano, Gaya, Karaye and Rano emirates were calm and orderly.
Security was beefed up at all prayer grounds, with operatives deployed to strategic points to ensure a hitch-free celebration.
Residents were seen observing the Sallah festivities in new and colourful traditional attire.
In line with the spirit of Eid al-Adha, those who could afford to perform the sacrifice slaughtered their animals.
Many were seen distributing portions of the meat to relatives, neighbours and the less privileged as part of the charity encouraged during the festival.
In the Kano metropolis, security personnel were stationed at flashpoints to maintain law and order.
The celebration was described as peaceful, with residents commending the improved security presence and the orderly conduct of the festivities across the state.
