Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, says he will only speak to his “boss” (the Nigeria football federation) regarding issues about outstanding salaries being owed by the federation.

“For the salary, the money, I only talk to my boss (NFF),” the Portuguese said in response to a question regarding his salary at a pre-match press conference ahead of Nigeria’s opening game against Equatorial Guinea.

Mr Peseiro is owed several months salary by the NFF, a situation facing almost all levels of the national team setups. But he has always been reluctant to talk about the payment situation between him and the federation.

Despite the issue regarding outstanding payments, the former Saudi Arabia coach went ahead to extend his contract with the Nigeria national team after he agreed to take a pay cut and reduce his salary from $70,000 to $50,000.

Speaking further on the issue, Mr Peseiro said, “From our team, when I asked them what they need to do to play better in the tournament, money and bonuses are the last point we talk about. Good pitch, good food that is what we want but money and the bonus are the last thing even though we know everybody in this world wants money but money is the last thing for now because we are playing for the people of Nigeria and now I feel part of them.”
