Pheelz reacts as Chelsea uses his song to unveil new signing Moses Caicedo
Nigerian record producer and songwriter Philip Kayode Moses, professionally known as Pheelz, has reacted as Chelsea uses his hit track “Finesse” to unveil the club’s latest signing, Moses Caicedo.
Pheelz released the song alongside fellow Nigerian singer BNXN, formerly known as Buju, in 2022.
Enthusiastic about the announcement, Pheelz shared a post in response to Chelsea FC’s announcement via his X handle on Monday, with the caption, “Can you believe @ChelseaFC used my song to announce the most expensive signing in the EPL right now? Mind blown.”
Chelsea secured the signing of Caicedo in a record-breaking deal of €115 million from Brighton on Monday after the player turned down an offer from Liverpool FC.
This marks the second occasion Chelsea has shattered a British record, following the acquisition of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica, which amounted to €106.8 million.
This event also comes on the heels of Arsenal’s use of Nigerian rapper Tochukwu Ojogwu, popularly known as Odumodublvck’s chart-topping single named after former West Ham player Declan Rice, to announce his transfer to the Emirates.
Declan’s deal was valued at €105 million.
“Declan Rice” and “Finesse” enjoyed immense popularity on the charts. “Finesse” reached the number one spot on the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 and amassed over 40 million streams on Spotify, while Odumodublvck’s “Declan Rice” garnered over 9 million streams on the same platform.
