Police arraign Ibadan man for receiving stolen car
On Friday, the police in Ibadan arrested Ogunsanmi Akolade, 42, before the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court for receiving a stolen Toyota Camry worth N2.5 million.
Mr Akolade, whose address was not provided, is charged with receiving stolen property.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Toyin Ibrahim, told the court that Akolade committed the offence on January 15 at 7:00 p.m. on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
Mr Ibrahim alleged that the defendant received the Toyota Camry from a suspect, Chibuzor Esomonu.
The prosecutor said the defendant knew the car was stolen from its owner, Johnson Ojo.
He said the offence contravened section 427 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendant N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until February 15, for a hearing.
