Police arraign man over alleged false statement

The police on Tuesday, charged a 45-year-old man, Morufu Oladokun, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, Oyo State, over alleged false statement.

Oladokun whose address was not provided, was charged with conspiracy, false statement, threat to life and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Inspector Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in October, at Akobo, in Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant and others now at large, made a false statement to the police, accusing one Olufemi Ayoola of being a kidnapper and ritualist.

He said that the defendant also threatened the life of Ayoola and prevented him from entering his land.

He said that the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 86, 192, 249(d) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Moyosore Atanda, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until January28, 2026, for hearing.
