An unemployed man, Shagari Ibrahim, was arraigned on Wednesday before the Karu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly possessing a fabricated firearm without reason.

The police charged Mr Ibrahim with illegal possession of a locally fabricated firearm.

The prosecution counsel, O.O Olayemi, told the court that the intelligence response team of the police arrested the defendant.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the offence, said by the prosecution to contravene section 319A of the Penal Code.

The judge, Hassan Mohammed, admitted the defendant to N200,000 bail with one surety.

Mr Mohammed ordered that the surety resides within the court’s jurisdiction, and a court officer must verify the address.

He adjourned the case until December 12 for further hearing.
