A 26-year-old man, Okechukwu Emmanuel, on Wednesday was arraigned before the Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun for stealing 37 cartons of ‘Action Bitters’ worth N299,000.

Mr Emmanuel was charged with theft.

The police prosecution, Insp E.O.Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 7 at the Intercontinental Distilleries Limited, Igboloye, Ota.

The police also accused the defendant of stealing a truck battery worth N68,000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Magistrate A.O.Adeyemi granted the accused N200,000 bail with two sureties.

Ms Adeyemi ordered that the sureties reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun government.
