Police arrest two for kidnapping in Abuja

Criminals and kidnappers have been running riot around area councils in Nigeria’s capital territory recently.

The police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) said it arrested two suspects in connection with kidnap in Kwali axis of Abuja.

Spokeman Daniel Ndirpaya made this known in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the suspects, whose names were not mentioned, were arrested by operatives of the command’s anti-kidnapping unit, while on routine patrol.

Mr Ndirpaya said the suspects who confessed to being members of a kidnap syndicate met their waterloo while trying to kidnap two women within Kwali axis.

The command’s spokesman said efforts were being intensified to arrest other members of the syndicate.

He pledged the commitment of the command to ensure the security of lives and property within the FCT.

Residents have had to face traumatic experiences of abductors in communities like Kubwa, Kuje and environs.

Mr Ndirpaya called on FCT residents to report all suspicious movements, emergency or distress to the command on 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883.

He said the conduct of Police Officers could also be reported to the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) on 09022222352.

According to him, observations can be dropped in any of the police suggestion boxes located at Berger Roundabout, Area 1 Roundabout and Federal Secretariat.
