A chief magistrates’ court in Makurdi, on Tuesday, ordered a land vendor and one other for terrorist acts.

The police charged Terzungwe Aondoakaa, 24, and Gbaior Agirigi, 25, with criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, acts of terrorism, illegal possession, and culpable homicide.

Magistrate Erdoo Ter did not take the suspects’ plea for want in jurisdiction.

Ms Ter ordered that they be remanded in Makurdi prison.

She adjourned the case until January 23 for further mention.

Prosecution counsel Regina Ishaya told the court that the case was received at the DZ section SCID Makurdi through a signal with number: CJ:4161/BNS/JTF/OPZ/VOL.1/6R6 dated November 17 from Operation Zenda JTF HQ.

Ms Ishaya said on November 16, men of the Operation Zenda JTF led by Insp Barnabas Anyiatse, while acting on a tip-off, reported that gunmen had attacked, shot and killed a man, Hungurmoga Agirigi, from Vandeikya LGA of Benue and made away with his corpse.

She said the team swung into action, traced and arrested Gbaior Agirigi of Booikyo, Ukum LGA and recovered some items belonging to the deceased.

She said they recovered the deceased’s arm and ammunition comprising of two fabricated Ak-47 rifles with nine rounds of 7.62x39mm live ammunition, one SMG magazine, seven rounds of .9mm ammunition, one empty shell of 7.62x39mm ammunition, and a locally made pistol all buried at the deceased’s compound in Mbamena Ukum LGA were recovered.

The police said upon further investigation, Mr Aondoakaa was arrested for committing the offence while others were at large.

She said an investigation into the matter was ongoing and requested an adjournment.
