Police nab hotel worker for stealing N1.2 million 

On Wednesday, a 27-year-old hotel employee, Gabriel Danjuma, was docked in a Kaduna magistrates’ court for stealing N1.2 million belonging to his employer.

A 27-year-old hotel employee, Gabriel Danjuma, was on Wednesday docked in a Kaduna magistrates’ court for stealing N1.2 million belonging to his employer.

The police charged Mr Danjuma, who resides in the Ungwan Pama area of Kaduna, with theft.

The prosecution counsel, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence between September 1 and November 14. at Standard Hotel in Sabon Tasha Kaduna.

Mr Leo alleged that Mr Danjuma, employed in January, stole N1.2 million belonging to his employer, Oscar Samson.

He said the offence contravened section 271 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In his ruling, the magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, admitted the defendant to N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Mr Emmanuel ordered that the sureties reside within the court’s jurisdiction and show evidence of tax payments to the Kaduna government.

He adjourned the matter until January 18 for a hearing.
