The Police and other security agents, including journalists, were present at the Gani Fawehinmi Park early morning on Thursday, waiting for the hunger protesters.

At the venue at about 7.30 a.m., police, civil defence, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Corps, and journalists were on ground awaiting the arrival of the protesters.

Men of the OP MESA, the military arm of security operation in Lagos State, were seen patrolling the street and around the park.

It also observed that while the park gate was widely open for the protesters to use, none of the groups had arrived as of 8.50 a.m.

The 10-lane ever busy Ojota-Ikorodu Road witnesses few vehicles, while many people resorted to trekking to their destinations.

Recall that the Gani Fawehinmi park, one of the designated venues, had been used in the past for many protests, including the #EndSARS protest.

Commercial activities in the area, including shops, were shut at Ojota and residents were not seen in the busy Ojota area.

The various motor parks were, however, in operation, though not in full capacity like other days.

The Commander of Area F Ikeja, ACP Paul Okafor, who was at the venue, said that everywhere was peaceful as there was no cause for alarm.
