Police teargas Super Eagles fans for invading stadium over loss to Ghana
Nigerian fans took to the pitch of the MKO Abiola Stadium in the capital Abuja in anger after the Super Eagles failed on Tuesday to qualify for the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
Social media clips showed the police using tear gas to disperse the raging crowd, who smashed the dugout and destroyed everything else in sight, including advertising boards.
Reports states that Ghanaian players were forced to abort their celebration of qualifying for the World Cup and instead take cover in the newly renovated 60,000 capacity stadium.
The Black Stars of Ghana qualified on away goals after a 1-1 draw against the Eagles in Abuja. The first leg ended 0-0 in Kumasi.
