The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has attributed the power outage in its franchise area to grid collapse.

“Please be informed that the power outage being experienced in its franchise area was due to a system failure from the national grid,” the AEDC management said in a statement in Abuja on Saturday.

According to AEDC, the grid failure occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, affecting the power supply to its franchise area.

“Be assured that we are working with relevant stakeholders to restore power as soon as the grid is established,” it said.
