Heading into Christmas break, Wolves defeated Chelsea 2-1 at Molineux Stadium on Sunday in their English Premier League encounter.

Wolves ruined Chelsea’s fans Christmas eve, handing the Blues their fourth consecutive defeat away from home.

The Blues started looking strong, creating chances but failing to take them as both sides went goalless into the first-half break.

Returning into the second half, Wolves opened the scoring after five minutes as Mario Lemina flicked a header into Chelsea’s net.

The Blues dominated possession, pushing hard for an equaliser, but were wasteful in front of goal.

Chelsea’s hope of an equaliser was further dashed as Matt Doherty doubled Wolves’s lead in the added time.

Late into added time, Christopher Nkunku scored his first goal for Chelsea, a consolation goal, but it was not enough to save the Blues from another defeat.

The Blues are now 10th on the EPL log with just 22 points in 18 games, showing no potential for Champions League qualification at the moment.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino said, “We feel very disappointed because we deserve much more. We are not clinical enough. We created chances and had the possession.

“It is a young team, and many players are in the Premier League for the first time. They need to adapt. We need to learn from these games. We are in a position Chelsea should not be in.”
