A Professor of Law, Teddy Idiabeta, on Monday, urged new President Bola Tinubu to protect the rule of law through obedience to court judgments by his administration.

Idiabeta, a Legal Tech Practice Consultant, gave the advice in an interview with journalists.

He reacted to Mr Tinubu’s inaugural speech in which he promised that his administration would be impartial and abide by the Constitution and the rule of law.

“To prove to Nigerians that he would obey the Constitution and the rule of law, he should not do anything against the judiciary,” the professor said.

He urged that the new administration should not interfere with the justice administration system in any manner.

“We need all the assurances we can get,” he said.

On Mr Tinubu’s proposal to remove fuel subsidy, Mr Idiabeta said that the removal might be too early.

He advised that the new administration should critically review the situation and take into account the impact of possible removal of fuel subsidy on the masses.

According to Mr Idiabeta, who is also the founder of Professor Teddy Idiabeta Law Consult, the president should adequately fight crime and criminality.

“We are hoping that this new dispensation will not be anything like what we have witnessed in the past.”

Mr Tinubu had said in his inaugural speech: “Our administration shall govern on your behalf but never rule over you.

“We shall consult and dialogue but never dictate.

“We shall reach out to all but never put down a single person for holding views contrary to our own.

“We are here to further mend and heal this nation, not tear and injure.”
