Protesters crowd military tank, police armoured personnel carrier in Kaduna

Protesters on Monday swarmed a military tank and a police armoured van in Kaduna as nationwide protests against economic hardships entered its fifth day.

Footages of protesters on the military tank and police armour van surfaced on social media during the protests on Monday.

The protesters could be seen as hanging on the military tank.

Similarly, the armoured police van drove with protesters clinging onto it as others cheered in jubilation. 

This development followed nationwide protests against economic hardship under President Bola Tinubu.

Earlier on Monday, protesters, some holding leaves and some waving Russian flags, hit the streets of Kaduna disrupting business and commercial activities.

Kaduna State governor, Uba Sani, has declared a 24-hour curfew due to the disruptive protests that shutdown every other business and commercial activities in the state on Monday.

Amnesty International said over 23 persons have been killed by the police since the protests broke out on August 1. . 

The human rights organisation accused Nigerian police of deliberately shooting live bullets to kill protesters. The police denied the allegation, claiming they have been civil since the protests started nationwide.
