Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun has felicitated with the Muslim Ummah on the commencement of the holy month of Ramadan, describing the spiritual month as “an era of cleansing and revival.”

Mr Adeleke, in a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on Monday in Osogbo, said Ramadan is a period to seek the face of God and empower oneself on the path of Allah for divine mercy, favour and grace.

“I join all Muslim faithful to welcome this blessed month of revival, forgiveness and mercy.

“We are set for a divine exercise of immense value and opportunities.

“This is the much-awaited month when our desires and longing for the Almighty God are expected to be fulfilled.

“As a government, we associate with all believers and seek divine support for the ongoing good governance transformation in Osun.

“I urge our clerics and the Muslim Ummah to pray for the state. May the Almighty God bless us all and answer our prayers and supplications,” he said.

Also, Dotun Babayemi, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in the state, urged Muslim brothers and sisters across the country to use the month-long Ramadan period to pray for Nigeria.

Mr Babayemi, a former PDP governorship aspirant in a statement in Osogbo, urged Nigerians to have a positive attitude about the country.

“It’s our collective responsibility to see that Nigeria succeeds.

“This, we can achieve by being relentless in our tangible efforts and through constant supplications to God, especially as offered by the opportunities inherent in fasting period,” he said.

Mr Babayemi, who noted that Nigeria and its people were going through tough times, said the situation could be redeemed through service to God and humanity.

While congratulating Muslims across the globe for witnessing another Ramadan, he prayed that their commitment to God’s work during and after the fasting period would not be in vain.
