Recruitment in Cross River will be merit-based, police say
The police command in Cross River has assured prospective applicants who applied for the 2025/2026 recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force of merit-based screening.
The assurance was made in a statement by the command’s spokesman, Sunday Eitokpah, on Thursday.
Mr Eitokpah said the recruitment would commence on Monday with screening, adding that it was only for applicants who had successfully completed their online registration.
He also said that the exercise was for those who applied for the 2025/2026 recruitment as general duty and specialist police constables.
“The command reiterates that the recruitment screening process is completely free of charge and will be conducted strictly on merit, in line with the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability.
“Members of the public are encouraged to report any individual or group demanding gratification or inducement in connection with the exercise,” he said.
The 2025/2026 recruitment exercise is to recruit 50,000 personnel (general duty and specialist police constables) into the force.
