The police on Tuesday arraigned a sales manager at Amber Drinks Ltd, Ibadan, in Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, Babajide Adeyanju, for allegedly stealing the company’s N1,628,654.
The police charged Adeyanju with conspiracy and stealing but he pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Iyabo Oladoyin, told the court that the suspect allegedly committed the offence between May 2021 and November 2022.
Ms Oladoyin said, “Adeyanju fraudulently used his position as sales manager to convert the money belonging to the company to his personal use.”
She said the offence contravened sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
However, the Magistrate, Adebola Adeola, granted bail to Mr Adeyanju in the sum of N1.6 million with one surety who must be a registered religious leader in like sum.
She adjourned the case until April 30 for hearing.
