The Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Friday ordered a security guard, Joshua Uzebor, remanded for sentencing for stealing a wheelbarrow and shovel.

The Magistrate, M.O. Tanimola, ordered Mr Uzebor, 28, to be remanded in Kirikiri prison custody following a guilty plea to conspiracy and stealing.

Mr Tanimola adjourned the sentencing until September 29 to enable the court to hear the facts of the case.

The prosecution counsel Sunday Bassey told the court that the defendant committed the offence on August 17 at Ikosi in the Ketu area of Lagos.

Mr Bassey alleged that Mr Uzebor stole a wheelbarrow worth N45,000 and a shovel valued at N10,000 belonging to his employer, Marcus Kufre. He said Mr Uzebor allegedly sold the items to a scavenger for N8,000.

The police officer stated the offence contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
