Security operatives arrested six suspected kidnappers in a raid on bandits’ camps in Kaduna and Niger states.

This was disclosed in a press releaseby the FCT police public relations officer, Josephine Adeh, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, on Friday.

The command’s spokesperson said the command’s anti-kidnapping unit conducted the clear-out of the camps in a joint operation with troops of the Nigerian Army Guards brigade between June 30 and July 4, 2024.

Mrs Adeh said the operatives, during the operations, “stormed some identified bandits camps in Gidan Dogo and Jerei forests, Kaduna State, and Niger State, all bordering FCT.”

The police spokesperson said the six suspects include “Inusa Musa, Isiya Adamu, Kare Gambo, Aminu Musa, and Muhammed Ibrahim, who voluntarily confessed to having been involved in a string of kidnappings in FCT and its environs.”

She stated that operatives are still navigating the identified bandits’ camps and hideouts in the forests and hills in and around FCT.

Ms Adeh said the police commissioner reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the security and safety of Abuja residents and urged residents to be vigilant.
