Seun Onigbinde, Uche Pedro, Peace Hyde, others make World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders

Nigerians are flying the flag high as Seun Onigbinde, Uche Pedro, Tokini Peterside-Schwebig and neighbouring Ghana’s Peace Hyde make the prestigious list of World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders (YGL) alongside well-accomplished individuals from other nations.
The Forum, on Tuesday, unveiled a new batch of inductees featuring persons who have blazed trails in their career paths and made positive impacts in their nations all under the age of 40.
Among the almost 100 inductees are; Uche Pedro, founder of Bella Naija, Nigeria’s top wedding, fashion and lifestyle digital hub, Seun Onigbinde, CEO and co-founder of BudgIT, a Nigerian civic startup and Peace Hyde, head of digital media in Forbes Africa and executive producer of popular Netflix series “Young, Richard and African.”
Tokini Peterside-Schwebig, a Nigerian art collector and founder of ART X Collective, a well-known international art fair in West Africa, was also named as a young global leader by The Forum.
“The World Economic Forum has announced the induction of the newest members of its Young Global Leaders Class of 2023,” reads a statement on The Forum’s website on Tuesday. “This year’s cohort includes nearly 100 promising political leaders, innovative entrepreneurs, game-changing researchers and visionary activists who are accelerating positive and lasting change in their communities, countries and the world.”
The inductees will undergo a “three-year leadership development programme,” where they will have access to “executive education courses” and opportunities that will make them more valuable to society.
Ms Pedro was listed under the media category while Mr Onigbinde was in the civil society category. Ms Hyde and Ms Peterside-Schwebig’s names were included in the category for arts, culture and sports.
Other distinguished persons who made the YGLs are; Abdigani Diriye, co-founder, Bloom Financial Technologies in Kenya, David Upton, a managing director at Barclays PLC in the UK, Gregory Rockson, co-founder, mPharma in Ghana and Stefany Bello, senior vice president of digital partnerships, Mastercard, USA.
Arielle Kayabaga, a member of parliament, House of Commons, Canada; Tara Iyer, a macroeconomist, International Monetary Fund, USA; Yusuke Narita, founder, Hanjuku-kaso Inc., Japan, Richard Ettl, CEO and co-founder, SkyCell AG, Switzerland, Paolo Petrocelli, head, Dubai Opera, UAE were also named as young global leaders this year.
