Shehu Nadada assumed duty as the 28th police commissioner in Nasarawa on Tuesday.

The command’s spokesperson, Ramhan Nansel, a deputy superintendent of police, said in a statement in Lafia that Mr Nadada took over from Mohammed Maiyaki, who recently retired from service.

He said Mr Nadada, until his deployment to Nasarawa command, was the commissioner in charge of the Katsina command and had also served as a deputy commissioner of police in Nasarawa.

Mr Nadada, who hails from Kano, was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, and had served in various capacities within the last 31 years.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Applied Biology from Bayero University, Kano, and a masters in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Mr Nadada, while taking over the reign of leadership, solicited the support and collaboration of the public to tackle criminals.

He also appealed to the public to provide the police with useful information to help tackle the spate of crimes in Nasarawa.
