The Zamfara government, through its ministry of women affairs, children and social development, has promised to sponsor the education and other needs of a six-year-old boy whose video trended on social media, grieving and vowing to avenge the killing of his father.

On Thursday, a statement by the ministry spokesman, Suleiman Isah, said the women affairs, children and social development commissioner, Nafisa Maraduna, stated this while receiving the child and his mother in her office.

The commissioner said she was directed by the first lady, Huriya Lawal, to find the boy and his mother so that the Zamfara government could support them and provide the necessary counselling.

“The boy will be receiving counselling from specialists to improve his life and thinking in order to avoid what may happen in future,” said the commissioner.

Ms Maraduna added, “We have supported the child’s mother with capital to start a business to ease her pain.”

The statement said the boy and his mother thanked the governor’s wife for the kind gesture, and the mother added that she would also assist in counselling the child.
