Governor Charles Soludo and Anambra residents have held prayers to pray for peace and end IPOB’s stay-at-home order.

Mr Soludo had directed churches and mosques to gather and pray on Monday morning.

In Awka, few churches complied with the time specified. Most churches visited in Awka and its environs fixed their prayer time for 4:30 p.m.

The clerics of the churches visited, who declined to disclose their names, said they did not comply with the stipulated time because they did not receive the directive on time.

Some churches within the Anambra capital complied with the special prayer session requested by the government for peace and tranquillity.

The prayer session was planned to mark the end of IPOB’s sit-at-home order that started on August 9, 2021.

Mr Soludo assured the people that no stone would be left unturned in achieving peace in Anambra.

He warned residents against further observing the stay-at-home order.

The governor added that peace and security were at the heart of economic growth and development and called for collective efforts to restore peace and order in Anambra.

The Anambra government and the Joint Body of South East Council of Traditional Rulers, Bishops, and Archbishops on the State of Insecurity in the Igbo Homesteads at the end of a one-day peacebuilding and security dialogue on Saturday, agreed to hold the prayers across the state.
