The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has urged Eggon community and other citizens to support the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule for the overall development of the state.

Mr Jatau made the call on Tuesday while hosting the leadership of Eggon Cultural and Development Association Worldwide in his office in Lafia.

He also urged them to work in unity and peace with other ethnic groups for the overall development of the state.

He stated, “Let’s all continue to support Governor Abdullahi Sule and all those in leadership positions to succeed.’’

He said the importance of unity and peace could not be overemphasised to the development of the state, hence the need for his call in that direction.

He stated, “I have a message and as I always said, you should work with other ethnic groups because we alone cannot do it. Let us all work together irrespective of our ethnic and religious backgrounds.’’

Mr Jatau appreciated Mr Sule and members of the House for making his dream of becoming the speaker a reality.

The speaker assured ECDA of his support to the association to succeed.

Earlier, the President of the association, David Abuliya, said the visit was to congratulate Mr Jatau on his emergence as speaker of the 7th assembly.

He added, “As representatives of the Eggon community, we come with open hearts and a shared commitment to foster understanding, cooperation and progress. Our purpose today is twofold: first, to congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment as speaker. Second, to establish a bridge of collaboration between the Eggon people and the state assembly.

“Your emergence as Speaker is a testament to your capacity, integrity, and extensive legislative experience. We believe that your leadership will steer the Nasarawa State House of Assembly towards greater heights. The expectations are high, and we are confident that you will uphold the principles of justice, equity and transparency.’’

The president called for inclusive governance in the state.

“We anticipate policies that embrace diversity, promote inclusivity, and uplift marginalised communities,” Mr Abuluya said.

He also called for quality legislation in the state.

He stated, “Nasarawa State deserves laws that enhance education, healthcare, infrastructure, and economic opportunities. We trust that your legislative background will contribute to this noble cause. We stand ready to collaborate with the state assembly, offering insights, constructive feedback and support.

“Together we can build a stronger Nasarawa State. Be assured that the ECDA leadership and the entire Eggon community are committed to supporting your office. We pledge our loyalty, cooperation and active participation in the legislative process.’’
