A Jos Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday sentenced a 24-year-old student, Ayobami Analowo, to six months’ imprisonment for stealing a gas cylinder.

The Judge, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily sentenced Analowo after he pleaded guilty.

Mr Bokkos, however, gave the convict an option to pay N20,000.

The judge said the punishment would serve as a deterrent to other intending offenders.

Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Inspector Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported on March 2 at the “A” Police Station Jos by a complainant, Abraham Godwin.

The prosecutor said the convict trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole the gas cylinder.

During a police investigation, the gas cylinder was found in his possession.

The offence, according to him, is punishable under the Plateau State Penal Code Law.
