The Super Falcons of Nigeria defeated Botswana 2-0 Thursday night to revive their quest for a 10th WAFCON title.

The win comes after an open match loss to Banyana Banyana of South Africa which ended 2-1 on Monday.

Ifeoma Onumonu and Christy Ucheibe scored the goals that ensured Randy Waldrum’s team secured their first tournament points.

The Mares of Botswana tried to keep the game alive but superb performances from the likes of Francisca Ordega and Halimatu Ayinde kept them at bay.

The Falcons did not have the services of star striker Asisat Oshoala who flew back to Spain today after sustaining a long-term injury.

Nigeria rises to the second spot in Group C with three points behind South Africa.
